I have created this blog to record my adventures in silver jewelry making.
I have always been interested in jewelry and adornment. I remember magical times as a child (the 50’s) in Buffalo New York when my great Aunt Mina would allow me into her bedroom to go thru her drawers. I can see the mysterious objects that buffed nails, organized hair and sprayed perfume. But most of all the jewelery, the blue stones and crystal necklaces. I was besotted.
In the late 70’s thru the early 80’s I lived in a yoga ashram for 5 years at which time I gave away “everything”. No possessions kind of thing. But in the end when I left, I managed to retain most of my jewelry and beads.
That gave me a real appreciation of the portability of beads and jewels. Trade beads, ancient stones with natural holes in them, refugees sewing their jewels in the hems of their clothes.
This passion is married with my natural attraction to working with fine detail. I have in my past been a fossil preparator, yoga teacher and am now a cataloger in a public library, all suiting my personality in terms of details. It is like the attention to detail is a form of one-pointedness the focus for my energy at that moment.
